Poster Competition
As part of the conference program, a poster session will take place, and the Best Student Poster Award will be announced. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to participate in the poster competition. Students wishing to participate should submit an abstract of their poster following the link below for the abstract submission. The abstract submission deadline is May 31, 2026. The conference scientific committee will decide on the acceptance of the poster for the presentation at the conference. The acceptance/rejection letter will be sent to the authors by middle of June 2026. The letter will include further information on the eligibility to participate in the poster competition and instructions on the poster preparation.
General eligibility rules:
-
The competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students, as well as those who completed their studies in the last semester (Winter semester, which ended in March 2026).
-
Each participant may submit only one poster.
Poster requirements:
-
Posters must present original work performed by the author(s), and include the title, author(s), affiliation(s), a clear abstract and a conclusion.
-
The poster must be vertical, measuring 100 cm (height) × 70 cm (width).
-
The presenters are responsible for placing their poster in the space assigned to them, at the opening of the conference - Monday, July 13, 2026, until 9:00 AM.
-
The presenter must be available at the poster between 10:45 and 13:15 as well as during the coffee breaks between sessions, and be ready to answer questions from the members of the judging committee and conference attendees.
Judging criteria:
-
Judging will include a preliminary review of the poster content prior to the conference, and an oral presentation on the day of the conference.
-
The preliminary review of the posters will take into account:
-
-
Originality and creativity
-
Clarity of the presentation: the problem, research method, results and conclusions
-
Visual impact and design
-
Relevance to the conference topics
-
-
In the poster presentation emphasis will be given to the presenter’s understanding of the research, response to questions and the quality of the presentation.
Awards and recognition:

From the conference chairs
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to join us at the 36th Israeli Conference on Mechanical Engineering (ICME2026), which will be held at the Technion in Haifa, on July 13, 2026.
This conference, which has a long tradition and is internationally recognized, is the main conference for the Mechanical Engineering community in Israel, combining basic and applied research. Past conferences have served as an efficient and successful opportunity for a broad and diverse community of academic institutions, research institutes, industry, investors, NGOs and government representatives to exchange ideas, consolidate joint research programs and discuss achievements, new initiatives and future opportunities.
Following several years during which the tradition of Israeli Mechanical Engineering conferences was interrupted, the time has come to reconvene and present the significant achievements and emerging challenges in the field. The strong partnership between Israeli academia and industry continues to drive technological innovation and scientific breakthroughs, and this conference renews the tradition and offers a timely platform for researchers and engineers to share their work, exchange ideas, and foster new collaborations.
The conference will cover both classic topics in mechanical engineering and recent breakthroughs in the field, and we hope that the wide range of topics covered at the conference will attract a multidisciplinary audience, providing a suitable platform for disseminating research results and promoting the exchange of ideas.
We look forward to welcoming you as participants in this important scientific and professional gathering.
Tribology Gold Medal 2025
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is delighted to announce Professor Emeritus Izhak Etsion as the recipient of the 2025 Tribology Gold Medal.
Professor Emeritus Izhak Etsion has been awarded the Tribology Gold Medal for his outstanding lifetime achievements and pioneering contributions to the field of tribology.
Professor Etsion has spent more than forty years at the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, where he built one of the world’s leading tribology research groups. His influential work spans hydrodynamic lubrication, contact mechanics, bio-tribology, nano-tribology, and surface texturing, and his research has led to over 290 scientific publications, 16 patents, and several successful start-up companies.
His contributions have advanced technologies ranging from energy-efficient surfaces to biomedical applications. A Life Fellow of ASME and STLE, he has received the STLE International Award, ASME Mayo D. Hersey Award, and the IMechE James Watt International Gold Medal.
Professor Etsion’s enduring impact on tribology research, education, and innovation makes him a truly deserving recipient of the IMechE Tribology Gold Medal 2025.
